Trumpeter Hiroshi Yasuda has 14 years of extensive professional performing experience both in Japan and here in the United States. He started to play the trumpet at age ten in Japan, and throughout his school years, he enjoyed actively performing in town with local bands and school ensembles until graduating from high school. Then, Hiroshi joined a concert band to travel with all over Japan and appeared on CD and video recordings, TV productions, radio broadcasts, concerts and dance gigs as well as playing for numerous singer’s bands. Styles of music range from Broadway show tunes to social dance music, to top hit chart Pops and Rock ’n’ Roll.

Hiroshi Yasuda moved from Japan to the U.S. in 1996 to study at the University of Miami studio music and jazz program. He studied with Mr. Alan Hood, both in Miami and at the University of Denver, where he attended the International Trumpet Guild conference, hosted by Professor Hood. Hiroshi contributed an article on Japanese trumpet teaching to ITG and it was published in ITG’s scholarly magazine in 2005. Hiroshi holds a B.M. degree Cum Laude from the University of Denver Lamont School of music where he majored in jazz and commercial music trumpet performance. Hiroshi also contributed a research presentation about Japanese jazz education for the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) at the 2007 New York conference.
Upon moving to the Chicagoland area in 2006, Hiroshi started to appear at jazz clubs in the Chicago area, including the Green Mill Jazz Club, Andy’s and Chambers. After numerous performing dates and research publications, including the translation of learning materials, Hiroshi is now focusing on helping the next generation of young musicians to be master musicians at Northwest Music School.
